EUBAM Rafah organises study visits

During the months of April and May 2016, EUBAM Rafah organized three Study Visits to EU Member States (Italy and Spain) for Managers from the General Administration for Borders and Crossings (GABC).

The first Study Trip took place at the Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency in Rome, which was held on April 2016. The Study Visit accommodated four managers from the General Administration of Borders and Crossings. GABC participants met with experts from the Antifraud Central Directorate and Customs Procedures Department. The topics discussed mainly focused on Anti-Fraud (Risk Analysis System and Intelligence), Authorized Economic Operation (AEO) and Rules of Origin. The second trip was held in May 2016 at the Customs Offices of Como, Ponte Chiasso and Chiasso International. The visit focused on procedures adopted for controls of goods and travelers, inter-agency and international cooperation at the Italian border with Switzerland. The participant also visited the Inter Agency Cooperation Centre (Customs/Police).  The third Study Trip to the Spanish Customs Office in Madrid was held towards the  end of May 2016. The visit focused on anti-fraud policies and techniques for operational investigations applied in the host country. Topics such as sharing and analysis of information, risk assessment and methodologies applied to prevent and counter border threats were also addressed during the visit.
