Activities
Current activities
Since EUBAM Rafah suspended its operations at the Rafah Crossing Point (RCP) in June 2007, the Mission actively kept on liaising with the Parties involved in the 2005 agreements, networking with all relevant stakeholders in the region and planning its redeployment and further operational options.
Thanks to its expertise in Border and Customs management, the Mission has also developed several concepts to help the Palestinian Authority to improve Border Operations and be prepared for a re-opening, avoiding situations that were witnessed in the past, on the occasion of exceptional openings of RCP.

Having lessons learnt from the past, EUBAM Border and Customs experts have designed concepts to improve passenger flow and passenger clearance through RCP. The Mission has also planned proposition for initial and advanced exports through RCP, as well as vehicles crossing through RCP in the future.
Perspectives
With a wide range of concepts and training plans, EUBAM Rafah is able to help PA staff to improve its performance in all aspects of Border and Customs management. Implementation of effective and fair procedures at RCP will contribute to enhance the population's confidence in their authorities and, as such, also work as a tool to strengthen the confidence between the Parties. As third-party Mission, EUBAM Rafah will contribute to the collective efforts to make RCP again the lung of the Gaza Strip.
