EUBAM Rafah participates in a key visit to Gaza Strip

On 8 November 2016,  the Head of EU border assistance Mission for the Rafah Crossing Point (EUBAM Rafah), Ms. Natalina Cea, visited Gaza Strip, together with the EU Heads of Mission in Jerusalem and Ramallah and met with Palestinian ministers and representatives of Palestinian civil society.

The group, composed of more than 20 senior European diplomats, also met with senior UNRWA Officials and visited a school in Beit Hanoun, north of Gaza Strip.

The EU and its Member States are providing significant support for Palestinians in Gaza Strip, in partnership with the Palestinian Authority, international organizations (notably UNRWA) and civil society.

In particular, EU BAM Rafah keeps supporting the relevant Palestinian Border Authorities in enhancing their capacity to redeploy at the Rafah Crossing Point once political and security conditions allow.

EUBAM Rafah is mandated to provide a third party presence at the Rafah Crossing Point to contribute to building confidence between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, including through building up the Palestinian capacity on all aspects of border management at Rafah.
