On 02 February 2017, An EU delegation comprised of Crisis Management & Planning Directorate (CMPD), Civilian Planning Conduct Capability (CPCC), and Middle East & North Africa (MENA-II) paid a visit to the European Union Border Assistance Mission for the Rafah Crossing Point (EUBAM Rafah) to acquire information on the development of the Mission activities in view of the next Strategic Review, to be presented to the Political and Security Committee next spring.
The delegation, accompanied by the Head of EUBAM Rafah Mission, visited the Palestinian General Administration for Borders & Crossings (GABC) in Jericho and held a meeting with GABC General Director Governor Mr. Nazmi Muhanna and other Palestinian senior officials. The delegation and Mr. Muhanna discussed and exchanged information on the current situation at the Rafah Border Crossing Point and on the Palestinian border Administration needs, to be fully prepared to redeploy to Rafah when political and security conditions will allow.
